Preliminary Study on Readiness to Teach Online Due to Covid-19 Pandemic among University Academician in Malaysia

The COVID-19 pandemic has prevented close engagement with students to avoid the spread of virus. Hence, transition from traditional classroom methods fully online teaching mode is essential. Academicians need be equipped necessary devices and technical skills conduct live video meetings (synchronous) create recorded (asynchronous). In this study, we have conducted a survey assess readiness academicians at Center for Foundation Studies in Science, University Malaya teach online. 88 participated study which consists 68 local staff 20 Japanese staff. was using Google Form, focused on three main aspects readiness. They were hardware readiness, software behavior (which include experiences, opinions, expectation teaching). results show that equipment lectures tutorials such as webcam, microphone should provided. Continuous training provided increase academicians’ competencies applications used. We hope research will provide some insights current condition our are having, what problem they facing plan ahead.
